Impressive Infiniti debut for Moffat in BTCC showdown
Posted on Monday 12 August 2019
A new car didn’t faze our Laser Tools Racing star Aiden Moffat as he guided his new Infiniti Q50 to two top-20 finishes at Snetterton, Norfolk, over the weekend of August 3-4.After a frustrating start to the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season, Aiden and his Laser Tools Racing team decided to use the second half of the 2019 season to regroup and work towards 2020. The decision was made to use the recently purchased rear-wheel drive Infiniti Q50, a car that had been raced in the...

Aiden Moffat fights to strong top 10 finish at Oulton Park

After a frustrating qualifying session on the Saturday, I managed to haul our Laser Tools Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class to 9th place in the final race at Oulton Park, Cheshire, on Sunday June 30.Saturday morning started well, I ran well in free practice but then suffered a turbo issue in qualifying meaning that our pace was stymied. Also, with the circuit getting slower as the 30-minute period wore on, I managed to drag the car to 20th on the grid but knew that there was work to do on raceday.We...
Aiden Moffat reflects on an eventful Croft

What a weekend that was! But at least we managed to score valuable championship points across three tricky races at Croft, North Yorkshire, on Sunday June 16.Our Laser Tools Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class began the weekend with a good set-up, and I was feeling that it was handling better than ever at the former aerodrome. I was confident and went into qualifying in optimistic mood, but the 30-minute session wasn’t an easy one for any driver as five red flags caused constant...
Moffat battles to top 10 finish in Thruxton Thriller
Posted on Friday 24 May 2019
Dalkeith touring car racer Aiden Moffat ended a tough weekend at Thruxton, Hampshire, with a 10th place finish in the third race of the day. After a difficult qualifying session on Saturday, we were left with just five more minutes of qualifying time after yet another red flag. Five minutes is only really long enough for one flying lap on the 2.4 mile long circuit, and sitting back in 21st place and no chance to even warm up the tyres, I managed to get a steady, fast lap in and qualified in 16th...
Aiden Moffat reports on mixed fortunes at Donington

Our Laser Tools Racing Mercedes showed great pace in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park at the weekend, in a weekend affected by incidents aplenty. This year we are testing and preparing our car independently of the similar cars in the championship, and the result is significant improvements that has helped the team to find a better set up across the free practice sessions. I went into the all-important qualifying session full of optimism, but the weather Gods...

Laser Tools Racing’s BTCC racer Aiden Moffat made an impressive start to the 2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Championship at Brands Hatch at the weekend with two top 10 finishes in his Mercedes-Benz A-Class.On a damp track in qualifying, Aiden struggled with the set-up of the car but he and his engineers worked on the data for raceday. With a modified set-up, Aiden was in more confident mood and once morning fog had lifted was ready for battle. On a damp track, many of Aiden’s rivals elected to...

Sunday at Silverstone. Well, what a day! Scoring a win with the Laser Tools Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class in the day’s final Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship race at the Northamptonshire circuit has been a major boost after a difficult season. But it was definitely my most satisfying race win, the third of my BTCC career. The weekend started well with achieving the eighth fastest time in qualifying around the 1.6-mile Silverstone National circuit, my time just 0.177s away from the...
Great progress at Rockingham despite difficulties!

I'm delighted to be working with double BTCC champion, Alain Menu now on the team as my new driver coach. Alain was instantly able to help me with input on data and also with a positive mental attitude that paid dividends straight away with a competitive showing in the first practice session. However, I was frustrated by two punctures in the second practice session that compromised the running time and left me on the back foot for qualifying.Qualifying was good though, but I made a mistake in...

We had another tough time at Snetterton, Norfolk, in the most recent rounds of the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, although as ever, we never gave up fighting. After the traditional summer break, the Laser Tools Racing squad regrouped ready to tackle the second half of the season. Frustration at Croft BTCC battle
Posted on Tuesday 26 June 2018
Croft, North Yorkshire: a troubling time this weekend in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Our Laser Tool Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class struggled for the optimum set-up going into qualifying and even had a spin as the tricky car fought back. That meant that I had to line up 24th for the opening race but I was eager to make progress.I achieved a good start and bolted away, gaining places up the order. Then I found myself stuck in traffic and was running in 20th but was then hit in...

Aiden Moffat just missed out on points after a hero’s drive at Oulton Park on Sunday, when a tyre deflated on the final lap of the 12-lap thrillerI have to say that at Oulton Park we endured a tough weekend; first struggling to find clear track space in the all-important qualifying session — this condemned us to start 16th on the grid — at a circuit in which overtaking is notoriously difficult. In the first race I was right in the middle of the pack, hunting for a gap but with the narrow track,...

After a difficult weekend, we managed to bag more points for our Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign on Sunday at Thruxton, Hampshire.Carrying 33 kilos of success ballast in our Laser Tools Racing Mercedes-Benz A-Class, I was compromised for pace in qualifying and a tyre issue that put the car on to the grass at the end of the vital qualifying session was another blow. We qualified in P21, but the car was definitely lacking straight-line speed. In the opening race I rocketed...

Well, Laser Tools Racing kicked off our 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship campaign at Brands Hatch, Kent, last weekend, with one of the most competitive weekends we have experienced, achieving two points-scoring finishes and we very nearly won Race 2.I wasn't really happy with 17th fastest time in the 30-minute qualifying session, in which finding clear track space on the 1.2-mile circuit was very difficult with 32 cars on track at once. What a weekend that was! We had a great start to the weekend with fifth best time in the second practice session and there was optimism going into qualifying, but I struggled to find track space to hook up a decent lap time. In addition, the field was so closely-matched that the cars were split by thousandths of a second, meaning that although my best lap was only half a second away from pole, it still put me 24th on the grid for the opening 22-lap race. However I had a terrific...

What a mixed weekend at Rockingham! My Mercedes-Benz A-Class started the weekend well with the team working hard to find a good set-up on the car, a process which is always a compromise given the nature of the circuit: part fast banked corners, part twisty infield. With the car tuned for qualifying, I went into the 30-minute session with a car that I felt could deliver a competitive grid position but discovered to my frustration that the car felt different from earlier in the day...

Excellent eighth fastest time in the second, dry, practice session before a heavy rain shower soaked the circuit for qualifying. As the road dried, I had a lap time disallowed as I was adjudged to have exceeded track limits so had to try again for a good grid...
