Scottish touring car ace Aiden Moffat has announced that he is competing in January’s Dubai 24 Hour race in the Century Motorsport Ginetta G55.
2016 Dubai 24 Hour Class SP3 winners Century Motorsport will field one of their strongest line-ups to date for the 2017 race, combining the qualities of youth and experience which they hope will be key to retaining their class SP3 title.Fresh from announcing his continued commitment to the British Touring Car Championship for 2017, Moffat’s ambition is to try other areas within the sport in the New Year. He has continued to improve in Britain’s ultra-competitive tin-top series since becoming the youngest driver in the championship in 2013. Moffat will be hoping to utilise the experience of his knowledgeable team mates to hit the ground running at the Dubai Autodrome.
In the opening event in this prestigious 24 hour race series, Moffat will be co-driving with Ginetta driver Ben Green, British GT4 race winner Jack Mitchell and Nathan Freke, who having won in 2016, will be hoping his experience will help towards a repeat performance in the 2017 race.
Used to driving his Laser Tools Racing Mercedes-Benz A-class in the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship, Aiden Moffat commented: “I’m really looking forward to the 24 hour race — it will be a new experience for me. Although we are staying in the BTCC, I intend to explore one or two different options over coming months. The rear wheel drive Ginetta G55 is certainly different and with the endurance race it gives me a great opportunity to hone my skills and racecraft, and develop for the future.”
The Dubai 24 Hour takes place at the Dubai Autodrome on January 12-13-14, 2017.
